Reading to Write

My Path to Becoming an Author

Here I go again…

I have re-invented myself too many times to count.  This blog will be the next permutation of me.  I plan to update it, at least, once a week.  Sometimes it will be a commentary on current events or pop culture.  At other times, an exercise in searching for the inner demons that keep me from being satisfied with myself.

I am a daughter, a sister, an ex-wife, a mother, and a grandmother.  I practice Christianity and celibacy.   I am a writer, an amateur photographer, a Website Designer, and a treehugger.  I dabble at Yoga, Tai Chi, and gardening.

I watch television…get over it.  I enjoy action movies, romantic comedies and good drama.  I will watch or read most anything that has a good plot and complex characters.

My late father addicted me to science fiction before I was out of second grade.  I cut my literary teeth on Asimov and Heinlein, but I soon expanded my mental horizons and now read most anything that sounds interesting…except Romance Novels.  I find them entirely too predictable and I outgrew the idea of “happy ever after” a long time ago.  Relationships are hard work.  They require dedication and sacrifice, mostly by the woman. I decided at the end of my second marriage, that I simply didn’t have the necessary willingness to adapt myself to another person’s needs.  I guess that means I’m either too selfish or too independent.

I like most kinds of music from Classical to Hard Rock.  I prefer impressionist art, but some of the realist and modern stuff is interesting.

I love the mountains, but hate cold weather.  I don’t care much for heat either, so my favorite seasons are spring and fall.  I am fascinated by thunderstorms and have passed the fascination along to my children and grandchildren.  While other people are hiding in the bathtub, most of my family will be found standing on the porch, searching for the funnel cloud.

Thanks for stopping by…come back regularly and see where this road takes me.
