Today’s conversation with a three year old:
Elaina: Mamaw I need to go potty and the light is off.
Me: I guess Uncle Jimmie turned it off. Come on.
Elaina: He always does that.
Me: Well, he forgets that there are little kids here who can’t reach the light on their own.
Elaina: I’m not little, I’m big.
Me: Ok, yes, you are big, but not big enough to…
Elaina: My arm don’t reach.
Me: That’s right. You aren’t quite big enough to turn on the light.
Elaina: But I will be. I’m getting bigger.
Me: Yes you are. Bigger every day.
Elaina: And prettier, and smarter.
Me: Yes. Definitely, smarter.
