Reading to Write

My Path to Becoming an Author

Research

I’ve gotten three new books this week to research this story. My bibliography grows exponentially.

The ones I already had:

Firefox…I have several, but the one that I bought specifically for this story is number seven which addresses religion.

Appalachian Mountain Religion (A History) by Deborah V. McCauley

A Guide to Historic Coal Towns of the Big Sandy River Valley by George D. Torok

The new ones are:

Coal Miners Wives by Carol A.B. Geisen

Night Comes to the Cumberlands by Harry M. Caudill

The Economics of Kentucky Coal by Curtis E. Harvey….this one is very technical and may not fit into my plans.

I’ve also just ordered another one:

Two Sides of Everything: The Cultural Construction of Class Consciousness in Harlan County by Shaunna L. Scott.

and the search goes on.
